U.S. and Canadian citizens traveling by air to and from Panama must:
- Present a valid passport when entering or re-entering the United States. Panamanian law requires that travelers present a passport valid for at least six (6) months.
- Purchase a tourist card at the airport in Panama before clearing customs or contact the issuing airline to purchase $5.00 tourist card prior to boarding plane. Tourist cards are for sale at the airport, however, we recommend making this purchase prior to arrival to minimize time at customs. The tourist card should allow a stay for up to 90 days.
- Present tickets or documents for return or onward travel
- Have sufficient cash (US$500) or a credit card.
- Airport Tax: There is a $40.00 airport tax departing from Panama and it can be paid at the airport. This is paid in cash at the airport leaving Panama.

All Study Abroad students are required to purchase the International Insurance Premium Card through UAHuntsville Office of International Programs and Services.

You should check the box for "Student ISIC Card Premium Insurance" at the top of the right-hand side. The participant should fill out the left side of the form. With your application, you must also include the following:
1. 1" x 1" photo (name printed in ink on back) JPG by email also acceptable.
2. A check or money order made out to OIPS for $75
3. Proof of student status (transcript).
4. Copy of driver's license, passport or birth certificate.
Once you receive the ISIC card from UAH, you will need to go to www.myISIC.com and register your card to activate your membership. The card is good for one year from date of issue. Attached is an explanation of the ISIC benefits. Please bare in mind that since this process will be done by mail we recommend to sent it to UAH as soon as possible. The ISIC card does not have to be purchased through UAH. The applicant can check where is the nearest location to get the card. The Premium card (which is the one required for the Program) has a base price of $68, but each issuing office charges what they need to cover their costs. In UAH the cost is $75, but the applicant might find the price different elsewhere.
