Staff
The Center is home to 30 full-time personnel from 10 different countries (Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Venezuela, Israel, Nicaragua, Colombia, and USA). Currently working in the Center are Panamanian scientists and foreign scientists and a diverse selection of recognized national, regional, and international associated consultants. Staff and interns are encouraged to produce real solutions and products to the various environmental challenges in the region.

Emilio Sempris Director of CATHALAC
Emilio Sempris is the Director of CATHALAC since 2002. Before, he served as CATHALAC´s Climate Change Associate Researcher and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) consultant to support the establishment of the Panamanian National Program on Climate Change. Mr. Sempris also served as consultant to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the World Health Organization's European Center for Environment and Health (WHO-ECEH), and also served as In-Country and Desk reviewer for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), assessing the GHG inventories submitted by the European Union, and the Austrian Third National Communication. His interests include Climate Change & Sustainable Development, Integrated Watershed Management, Multilateral Environmental Negotiations, Earth Observations, Environmental Analysis and Modeling, and Risk Management.
